Exposures to Viral Respiratory Illness

What should I do if I’m exposed to a patient with a Viral Respiratory Illness during my clinical rotations?

During your clinical rotations, you may be exposed to patients who are or who become confirmed Viral Respiratory Illness cases.

If you find yourself in this situation, know that:

  1. Asymptomatic, fully-immunized individuals will not need to self-isolate unless directed otherwise.
  2. Self-monitoring of symptoms is always required regardless of vaccination/recent infection status.
  3. If you have been exposed while providing care without the use of appropriate PPE, you must report your exposure to your supervisor.
  4. Contact Aidan Gregory, Workplace Health Services Claims Associate, to report a possible work-related exposure.
